Development points
- Explain how prevalence, sensitivity and false positives lead to the figure.
- Distinguish sensitivity from the chance of having the condition after a positive result.
A recalled percentage without evidence does not show that the learner can justify or revise the conclusion.
Same answer, supported reasoning
Learner About 15%. In 10,000 people, 100 have X and 90 test positive; about 495 without X also test positive. So 90 of 585 positives have X. The result raises chance from 1% but is not a diagnosis; false positives still outnumber true positives.
The same numerical answer is supported by explicit evidence, base-rate use and calibrated uncertainty.

Evidence, alternatives and uncertainty make the reasoning inspectable — not only the final number.
Both attempts reach the same answer. Formative feedback differs because Socratic judges the reasoning that was actually expressed.
