Summary

The presentation examines the elevated risk of stillbirth associated with pregestational diabetes mellitus (PGDM). It highlights significant knowledge gaps regarding the relationship between maternal characteristics and stillbirth risk. A retrospective cohort study using data from 29 million pregnancies reveals that the stillbirth rate for PGDM is 20.83 per 1,000, compared to 5.04 per 1,000 for non-PGDM cases. The findings suggest a need for targeted risk stratification and personalised interventions to mitigate stillbirth rates in affected populations.
