Summary

The study explores the cardiovascular effects of ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) light exposure, highlighting the role of nitric oxide (NO) in vasodilation. The study, involving ten participants, employed a randomised crossover design to measure changes in plasma NOx levels and vascular function using EndoPAT. Results indicate that IR exposure significantly increases nitrite levels, suggesting a more consistent vascular response compared to UV. The findings underscore the complexity of NO bioavailability and its implications for cardiovascular health.
