Summary

The scoping review examines the effects of resistance training (RT) on maternal health during pregnancy, highlighting a significant gap in research as only about 10% of pregnant women engage in RT despite recommendations for muscle strengthening. The review aims to provide an overview of existing evidence, identify research gaps, and suggest future priorities. Key findings indicate that while RT is safe and beneficial, evidence is limited and inconsistent. The presentation calls for large-scale randomised controlled trials to clarify RT's role in maternal health.
